In an attempt to provide the best and most up to date care to our patients, our clinical activities are complemented with a variety of research trials.
The following studies are currently open to enrollment at the NYU Pain Management Center:

1. “A Multicenter, Randomized, Double-Blind, Placebo-Controlled, Parallel-Group Study of Intravenous Methylnaltrexone (MOA-728) for the Treatment of  Postoperative Ileus after Ventral Hernia Repair”
2. “Phase I Study of Treatment Patterns for Non-surgical Acute Pain”
3. “A Multi-Center, Randomized, Double-Blind, Placebo-Controlled Study with an Open-Label Run-in to Assess the Efficacy, Tolerability, and Safety of BTDS 10 or BTDS 20 Compared to Placebo in Opioid-Naïve Subjects with Moderate to Severe Chronic Low Back Pain” (BUP 3024)

7. “An Open-Label Study Investigating Long-Term Safety and Tolerability of NasalFent (Fentanyl Citrate Nasal Spray) in The Treatment of Breakthrough Cancer Pain (BTCP) in Subjects Taking Regular Opioid Therapy” (CP045)
8. “A Multiple-Dose, Non-Randomized, Open-Label, Multicenter Study to Evaluate the Long-Term Safety and Effectiveness of EN3267 in the Treatment of Breakthrough Pain in Cancer Patients” (EN3267-007)
9. “Spinal Cord Stimulation in Chronic Intractable Pelvic Pain: A Comparison of Lead Placement Techniques”
10. “A Randomized, Controlled Evaluation of a New Muscle Pain Detection Device (MPDD) to Diagnose Muscle Pain in Back or Neck Pain Patients”
11. “Magnetoencephalographic Studies of Neurologic and Psychiatric Patients” (Thalamocortical Dysrrhythmia Syndrome in CRPS Patients)

Patients with the following conditions could qualify for some of our studies:

• Pain caused by cancer or by cancer treatment
• Chronic constipation caused by the use of opioid medications (like morphine, methadone, fentanyl…)
• Muscle Pain
• Osteoarthritis
• Rheumatoid Arthritis
• Chronic Low Back Pain
• Chronic Pelvic Pain
• Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) or Regional Sympathetic Dystrophy (RSD)
• Planning Surgery for Ventral Hernia
