First National Asian and Pacific Islander HIV/AIDS Awareness Day

New York, May 17, 2005 – The NYU Center for the Study of Asian American Health, APICHA (Asian and Pacific Islander Coalition on HIV/AIDS), South Asian Health Project, Asian American Federation of New York Chinese American Planning Council, Family Health Project, and the South Asian Health Project will present lectures and a panel presentation in observance of the first National Asian and Pacific Islander HIV/AIDS Awareness Day.

As one of the fastest growing groups in the U.S, the number of Asian Pacific Islanders who are living with HIV/AIDS has consistently increased over the years, and has become a growing concern. In recognition of this day a panel of speakers has been invited to bring attention to some of the local and global issues involving HIV/AIDS in the Asian Pacific American community.
