NYU'S CARDIAC & VASCULAR INSTITUTE PARTNERS WITH THE AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION AS A LEADING SPONSOR OF THE NEW YORK CITY GO RED FOR WOMEN CAMPAIGN

NEW YORK, NY – February 1, 2007 – On Friday, February 2, NYU’s Cardiac & Vascular Institute will kick off their three year partnership with the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women campaign, a nationwide movement designed to educate and empower women to prevent heart disease.

The Institute will sponsor a Health Fair with an onsite health assessment, screenings (blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar) and nutritional counseling. The Fair, open to NYU Medical Center employees and the public will be held at the Medical Center, 550 First Avenue (at 32nd Street) Friday, February 2 from 10:00 am – 3:00 pm. Prizes will be awarded throughout the Fair and light heart healthy snacks will be served.

For the next three years, the Institute will host and support many of the AHA’s regional heart disease awareness efforts. Show your solidarity with the Go Red for Women campaign by wearing red on February 2, a simple and powerful way to heighten awareness of the signs, symptoms and prevention of heart disease – the number one killer of women.
