Thank you for your interest in volunteering. The following
is information about the application process and types of volunteer positions
at NYU Langone Medical Center.
For Students
Many of our volunteer programs require 6, 9 or 12 month commitments, which
do not always mesh well with high school or university semester schedules.
There are a select few programs that may be able to accommodate your semester
schedule, depending on the time of year and volume of applications. If
you need to work your volunteering around your school schedule, please
let us know, and we will see what is available.
Application Process
- Volunteer candidates complete an application form and send it to Volunteer
Services.
- Candidates meeting the basic requirements are interviewed by the Manager
or Assistant Manager of Volunteer Services.
- If a position is available that matches the volunteer’s skills,
interests and time availability, the candidate is referred to the appropriate
department for an interview and final decision concerning acceptance.
- If accepted into the program, the volunteer must obtain health clearance
and attend orientation and training required for that position.
This process can take between 3-6 weeks.
Please note that while a position might be open for recruitment one day,
it might be closed on another. It cannot be predicted which programs will
have openings during any given week or season.
Volunteer Programs
NYU Langone Medical Center’s comprehensive array of services provides
a diverse range of opportunities. All programs are non-medical and there
are no doctor-shadowing positions. On average, volunteers are required
to commit to volunteering the same day, same time each week for at least
6 months. Commitment time lengths vary from program to program (4 –
12 months).
The following briefly describes some of the volunteer programs at the
Medical Center. Most positions are available Monday to Friday during the
day (DAY) with some also available on week-ends (W/E) and week-day evenings
(EVE).
