Samir Taneja, M.D. is Director of Urologic Oncology, is a leader in his field and has published numerous articles and book chapters pertaining to the management of urological cancer. He serves as a consultant for a number of urologic journals,and recently edited one of the major urologic surgical textbooks, Complications of Urologic Surgery: Prevention and Management. He has lectured throughout the world on genetic and immune therapies for urologic malignancy, and has taught several post-graduate courses on the management of urological cancers. At NYU,Dr. Taneja's practice is limited to the management of cancers of the kidney, bladder, prostate and testis. His areas of special interest include techniques of partial nephrectomy for kidney tumors, urinary reconstruction after bladder removal,and nerve sparing prostatectomy. He directs a multidisciplinary team of surgeons, medical and radiation oncologists dedicated to the development of new therapies for the treatment of advanced urological cancers.
Dr. Taneja is a fellow of the American Board of Urology and member of the American Urological Association and the Society of Urologyic Oncology.He serves on the research committees of the American Foundation for Urologic Disease and the Department of Defense.
