Art Therapy is based on the belief that the creative process involved in the making of art is healing and life-enhancing. Through creating art, talking about art, and making art with an art therapist, a person can increase self-awareness, cope with symptoms, improve self-esteem, reduce stress and traumatic experiences, enhance cognitive abilities, and enjoy the life-affirming pleasures of artistic creativity.
At Hassenfeld, daily playroom programs are designed to address the developmental challenges faced by children during treatment. When children are not feeling well enough or are not able to come to the playroom, individual Art Therapy can be provided in the treatment room. Kim uses a variety of art techniques and materials to normalize the clinic environment and to provide opportunities for patients to socialize, to explore and to express their feelings.
