Family Fun Day
Hassenfeld hosts an annual summer Family Fun Day to give patients, siblings, parents, caregivers, family members, and Hassenfeld staff a chance to enjoy a day of fun off-site away from the clinic.
Hassenfeld Applied Theatre
Over the course of 15 weeks, participants will be guided by trained theatre educators through the act of creating and producing their own original theatre pieces.
Horticulture (Plant) Therapy
Hassenfeld’s horticulture therapy program introduces patients and families to plant and gardening projects that build awareness of nature, science, nutrition, and environmental concepts.
Music Therapy
Music therapists use music in a medical setting in order to address a person’s needs (physical, emotional, cognitive, and social).
Pet Therapy
Pet therapy offers patients and family members an incredibly rich therapeutic and healing experience. Visiting with a trained pet therapy dog helps children and adults alike relax, feel calmer, and express their feelings.
Photo-Journaling
As part of the Teen and Young Adult Group, Hassenfeld’s Photo-journaling Program is led by a trained art therapist who helps teen and young adult patients express, capture, and chronicle their emotions through photography and journaling.
Psychology Services
Our pediatric clinical psychologist provides direct and consultative services to patients and families including psychological screenings, neuropsychological testing, and behavioral interventions for specific difficulties.
Recreation Therapy
Recreational and leisure activities allow children and young adults to become more confident as they practice and master different physical, cognitive, social, and emotional skills.
School Re-Entry
Hassenfeld’s School Re-Entry Program staff answers questions and dispels myths associated with returning to school after a prolonged absence.
Surivorship Programming
Today there are over 270,000 survivors of childhood cancer, and it is estimated that by the year 2010 one in every 250 young adults will be a survivor of childhood cancer. In order to meet the needs of this growing population, Hassenfeld has developed an interdisciplinary Survivorship Program that addresses the special needs of childhood cancer, leukemia, and blood disorder survivors.
Teen and Young Adult Group
Being a teen or a young adult is hard enough, but teens and young adults at Hassenfeld face the added challenges of living with a serious medical condition. Hassenfeld’s Teen and Young Adult (TYA) Program provides resources, activities, support, and space that are just for them.
