The New Hassenfeld Center at 32nd Street

In 2006, the new Hassenfeld Center opened its doors at 160 East 32nd Street between Lexington and Third Avenues. The expanded 10,050 square feet outpatient Center was designed around a theme of wellness and healing, and incorporates warm, natural design elements into a clinical setting that delivers the most sophisticated medical therapy to our patients.

The new facility has enabled Hassenfeld to expand its integrated services and programming in an environment that complements its mission of promoting healing and wellness in an individualized way.

The new Hassenfeld Center features many exciting new facilities and services for our patients, siblings, and parents. The Playroom is a dynamic learning center for children that offers a rotating schedule of activities and events, including karaoke, cookie decorating, and holiday parties to name a few. The Teen Room allows our teenage patients to spend time with one another, listen to music, play video games, or watch a movie from our collection of new and classic films. In the Hassenfeld Family Pantry, we offer nutritious snacks daily for children and coffee or hot chocolate for parents.

Parents and children can meet with our Family Health Librarian to access information about their medical condition in the new Hassenfeld Family Education Center. The Music Therapy Room houses music therapy sessions in which patients and family memers are encouraged to express themselves through songwriting and music making, using a Mac workstation and iPods. The Wellness Center provides a quiet space for personal reflection or for group activities, as well as sessions in massage therapy, reiki, yoga, nutrition education, horticulture therapy, and pet therapy.
