Campus Housing
There are currently three residential buildings for medical students, and
single students are assured of receiving a housing offer. Application forms
for housing will be furnished to matriculating students.
The Rubin Hall of Residence is a fourteen-story dormitory building adjacent
to the School, with a few two-room suites and primarily single occupancy
rooms; each single room has a private sink. Only suites contain private bathrooms.
Common, co-ed bathrooms, and shared kitchens are located on each floor. Electricity
and NYU School of Medicine network access with email and fast Internet are
included in the rent. Please note that air conditioners are not provided
by the School. Most incoming students are assigned to Rubin Hall.
Arnold and Marilyn Greenberg Hall, 545 First Avenue, is a ten story mixed-use
building. The student apartments include studios as well as larger apartments
shared by three students each. First-year students are rarely assigned to
Greenberg Hall, but if they are, first-year students may not retain their
assigned housing in Greenberg Hall, but must enter the housing lottery for
the next academic year. Central air-conditioning is provided; electricity
is excluded from the rent rates. NYU School of Medicine network access with
email and fast Internet is included.
The Skirball Residential Tower, at 564 First Avenue is also adjacent to
the School. Student apartments include studios, apartments shared by two
students each, and a few apartments for student couples. First-year students
are not assigned to Skirball.
There are 24-hour security services and ID card access in the buildings.
Laundry facilities are on the premises. There are no storage facilities and
pets are not permitted. Students following particular dietary restrictions
may be placed with other such students if they request it and if space is
available, but separate kitchens are not provided. Student rooms and apartments
are furnished unless you provide advance notice that furniture is not required.
You may choose to bring your own bed and accept the other furniture. Note
that in Rubin Hall first floor rooms, beds are built-in and cannot be removed.
Furniture and other property management responsibilities are overseen by
the Real Estate Division.
Accommodations for student couples (married or documented domestic partnerships)
are usually not available for incoming students, but we urge you to communicate
with the Housing Office as soon as you are offered admission to the School.
For those students who are not accommodated within NYUMC housing, we urge you to use our off-campus housing website, OCHAP:
www.med.nyu.edu/ochap
The website includes a registration link to NYU’s preferred real estate broker CitiHabitats, and to buildings that rent directly to tenants without requiring a broker. CitiHabitats will discount their commissions for NYU affiliates.
