Letter from the Director

Bruce N. Cronstein, M.D.
Director, NYU Division of Clinical Pharmacology

The Division of Clinical Pharmacology at NYU is the newest in the New York region and among the most active. We offer an advanced science selective to medical students in new drug development, as well as a weekly lecture series. But our mission is predominantly research: to conduct pharmacologically oriented investigations in our three laboratories and to carry that research to patients.

The interests of the division range from rheumatic diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis, sarcoidosis and scleroderma, to liver disease, cancer, and wound healing. We are currently in the midst of carrying one of our investigations in wound healing from the bench to the bedside. We've identified a candidate compound that now is being tested in the clinic for the treatment of wounds in patients with diabetes.
