
Dr. Neil Shapiro has been named Assistant Chief of the Medical Service at the VA NYHHC System-New York Campus. In this role, he will work to better coordinate patient care and improve patient satisfaction on the inpatient service and lead performance improvement initiatives involving our educational and clinical care missions.
Dr. Shapiro received his BA from the University of Pennsylvania and his MD from the NYU School of Medicine. He was an intern, resident and chief resident in Internal Medicine and a fellow in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at NYU Medical Center/Bellevue Hospital. After a brief experience in private practice, he joined the attending staff at this VA in 1999 in the Primary Care Program. He has served as Assistant Director of the Primary Care Program and Assistant Chief of the General Internal Medicine Section. Over the years, he has served on many committees at our VA and is currently a Firm Chief on the Medical Service and an Associate Program Director for the NYU Internal Medicine Residency Program.
