General Internal Medicine Fellowship Program

Masters of Science in Medical Education

Program Information

Program Director: Mark D. Schwartz, MD

The 34-credit Masters in Medical Education program is the core curriculum for our two-year General Internal Medicine Fellowship Program. This innovative program is designed to prepare General Internists for careers as academic Clinician-Educator-Scholars. The degree is conferred by the NYU School of Medicine in collaboration with the NYU School of Education.

Graduates will become medical school faculty who are:

  • Master educators
  • Creators of effective curricula, teaching and evaluation methods
  • Scholars in medical education research
  • Committed to training the next generation of generalist physicians caring for urban underserved populations

Program support is provided by the Department of Health and Human Services, Health Resources and Services Administration, Bureau of Health Professions.
