  • The Clinical Cancer Center, located at 160 East 34th Street, is an ambulatory setting consisting of the full complex of services that provide efficient and comprehensive cancer care.
  • Patient population includes adult patients (age 18 or older, including the elderly) and adolescent patients (age 12 through 18) with suspected or confirmed malignancies receiving consultation, follow-up, chemotherapy, supportive therapy and/or radiation treatment.
  • The Cancer Center utilizes an interdisciplinary approach in the management of patient care. Patient assessment and plan of care involve input from a team of physicians, nurses, pharmacists, nutritionists, and social workers. This team facilitates continuum of care by providing the coordination and transfer of patients to inpatient, rehabilitation, home care, hospice, and long-term care. The Cancer Center team closely collaborates with the NYU Hospitals Center social work, nutrition, home care, hospice, and rehabilitation programs.
  • The nursing staff strives to enact the philosophy that competent and compassionate nursing care of patients is their primary service and goal. The nurse acts as an advocate for the patient and appropriately interacts with all team members to ensure the wishes of the patient are considered and safeguarded.
  • Registered Nurses provide infusion services ordered by the patient’s providers, which may include chemotherapy, biological agents, supportive therapies, and transfusion services. Our registered nurses, many of whom have oncology nurse certification (OCN) by the Oncology Nursing Society, provide pre, intra, and post-therapy assessment, appropriate interventions, patient and family education, discharge instructions, and coordination of interdisciplinary services for each patient visit.
