REHABILITATION/PSYCHIATRY SERVICE

In the Rusk Institute, a 118-bed rehabilitation facility for both adult and pediatric patients, the nursing focus is on the patient's ability rather than disability. The RN is an integral member of the multidisciplinary health team, participating in direct patient care, patient/family teaching and discharge planning.

The Inpatient Psychiatry unit, a 22-bed locked voluntary unit licensed by the NYS Office of Mental Health, promotes mental health through the development of interdisciplinary treatment goals and plans. The RNs are assigned to primary patients to foster continuity care and transition into the community.
