Clinical medical student role
The clinical medical student (MSIII and MSIV) is the core part of the clinical team that sees patients during the clinic session. Each team is composed of you, a third of fourth year medical student, and a preclinical medical student (MSI or MSII). You will be assigned to come into clinic every other Saturday and will be seeing patients each time you come to clinic.
You are responsible for seeing patients, administering a history and physical exam, developing an assessment and plan for the patient after presenting to and discussing with the attending physician.
Clinical students also are responsible for teaching their pre-clinical team member about how to conduct a history and physical and for encouraging the pre-clinical student to practice parts of the medical interview.
Based on pre-clinical students' suggestions, clinical students are expected to give one case presentation or didactic during morning breakfast and announcements about a topic that was encountered during a patient visit.
