Reducing Your Risk of Glaucoma
There are no specific guidelines for preventing or reducing
your risk of glaucoma.
Early detection and treatment of glaucoma, before it causes
major vision loss, is the best way to control the disease. Since
vision loss is gradual and usually only affects the peripheral
vision at first, most patients don't notice any visual changes
until significant damage has been done.
You should have your eyes examined regularly by an eye care
specialist, especially if you are at high risk for glaucoma. (Refer to the
screening
for recommendations on frequency.)
