The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery is responsible for providing the full range of adult orthopaedic services to patients at NYU Hospital for Joint Diseases. These include:
This specialty hospital is dedicated solely to the treatment of orthopaedic and rheumatologic conditions. Members of the NYU Hospital for Joint Diseases service follow the highest professional standards in evaluating and treating in-hospital patients, patients who seek treatment in the numerous clinics, and patients who visit the Hospital's Immediate Care Center, a unique facility that provides urgent orthopaedic care.
More than 11,000 surgical procedures are performed at NYU Hospital for Joint Diseases annually, including over 2,000 joint replacement procedures . The large number of cases performed makes the Hospital a fertile area for education and research .
In recent years NYU Hospital for Joint Diseases has added a state-of-the art Center for Children and a brand new lobby at its Second Avenue, 17th Street entrance. Plans continue to enhance the facility and make it as patient-friendly as possible.
For the convenience of patients, the Department of Orthoapedic Surgery maintains faculty practice offices at both the 17th street facility and across the street at Rutherford Place, 305 Second Avenue.
