Treatment remains preventative, symptomatic and supportive. It is recommended that patients avail themselves of the specialized resources to obtain individualized treatment plans. Some of the more commonly needed treatments are as follows:
- artificial tears
- feeding techniques
- special therapies (feeding, occupational, physical, speech)
- management of orthopedic manifestations such as neuropathic joints, bone infections, spinal curvature
- protecting the child from injury (use of appropriate braces and activities)
- treatment of dental problems
- compensating for other aspects of autonomic dysfunction such as inability to sweat and labile blood pressures
