About Us
The Health Career Opportunity Program consists of three separate four-week work-study fellowships that provide students with a hands-on clinical experience and exposure to the diversity and variety of healthcare professions. Originally sponsored by the Reader’s Digest Magazine, the program has graduated over 3000 students in the past 38 years.
The HCOP tries to give a real work experience in professional health careers for college students and high school seniors. As it provides clinical internships in many healthcare fields, the HCOP is unique. This experience invariably helps students to re-evaluate their professional goals and broaden their knowledge of other careers in medicine. Graduate schools and many universities realize the importance of internships such as the HCOP.
