Herbert Lepor, M.D.
Professor and Chairman of Urology
Professor of Pharmacology
Director of Urologic Oncology and Co-Director of the Prostate Center
Dr. Lepor attended the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and completed
his Urologic training at the Brady Urological Institute at the Johns Hopkins
Hospital. He then served on the Urology faculties of the Johns Hopkins University
School of Medicine, Washington University School of Medicine, and the Medical
College of Wisconsin. Dr. Lepor assumed the Chairmanship of the New York University
Medical Center Department of Urology in December of 1993. Dr. Lepor is recognized
internationally for his contributions to the treatment of benign and malignant
diseases of the prostate. Dr. Lepor has an active basic science laboratory
and is the principal investigator on three N.I.H. funded grants.
Victor Nitti, M.D.
Associate Professor and Vice Chairman of Urology
Director, Residency Program
Director of Voiding Dysfunction and Female Urology
Dr. Nitti joined the faculty in 1995. He attended medical school
at UMDNJ and completed his residency at SUNY-Brooklyn. He completed a fellowship
in
Urodynamics and Female Urology at UCLA in 1992 and has served on the faculty
at UCLA and SUNY Brooklyn. Dr. Nitti is internationally recognized for his
contributions related to treatment of female urology, urodynamics, and voiding
dysfunction.
Christopher Dixon, M.D.
Clinical Associate Professor of Urology
Director of Reconstructive Surgery
Co-Director of the Prostate Center
Dr. Dixon completed his medical education at the Medical College of Wisconsin
and Urology training at Wayne State University. He completed a Urologic Trauma
Fellowship at the University of California San Francisco. He has served on
the faculties at the University of California San Francisco and the Medical
College of Wisconsin. He joined the NYU faculty in 1994. Dr. Dixon is known
for his pioneering work in laser prostatectomy a radiofrequency ablation of
the prostate.
Christopher Kelly, M.D.
Assistant Professor of Urology
Neurourology and Female Urology
Dr. Kelly completed his medical education at Columbia University and residency
at Massachusetts General Hospital. He completed a fellowship in Urodynamics
and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical
Center. He joined the faculty in 2001.
Christopher Lee, M.D.
Assistant Professor of Urology
Dr. Lee completed his medical education at UMDNJ and residency at Albert Einstein
College of Medicine. He completed a fellowship in Urologic Oncology at the
National Cancer Institute and joined the faculty at NYU in 2004.
Andrew McCullough, M.D.
Clinical Associate Professor of Urology
Director of Male Sexual Health and Fertility
Dr. McCullough completed his medical education at the University of Maryland
and his Urology training at the Brady Urological Institute of the Johns Hopkins
Hospital. He has served on the Urology faculties of the Johns Hopkins University
School of Medicine and Yale University School of Medicine. He joined the faculty
at NYU in 1994.
Nirit Rosenblum, M.D.
Assistant Professor of Urology
Female Urology and Reconstructive Surgery
Director of Urology, Bellevue Hospital
Dr. Rosenblum completed her medical education and residency at New York University.
She completed a fellowship in Urodynamics and Female Urology at UCLA. She then
joined the faculty at NYU in 2002.
Ojas Shah, M.D.
Assistant Professor of Urology
Director of Endourology and Stone Disease
Dr. Shah completed his medical education at Northwestern University and his
urology training at New York University. He completed a fellowship in Endourology
and Laparoscopy at Wake Forest University and then joined the NYU faculty in
2003.
Ellen Shapiro, M.D.
Professor or Urology
Director of Pediatric Urology
Dr. Shapiro attended the University of Nebraska Medical
School and completed her Urologic training at the Brady Urological Institute
at the Johns Hopkins
Hospital. She completed her Pediatric Urology Fellowship at the Children’s
Hospital of Michigan. Dr. Shapiro has served on the faculties of the Johns
Hopkins University School of Medicine, Washington University School of Medicine,
and the Medical College of Wisconsin. Dr. Shapiro joined the NYU faculty in
1994. Dr Shapiro is a member of the NIADDK Advisory Board. She is internationally
recognized for her research on quantitative morphometry of genitourinary tissue
using computer-assisted image analysis.
Michael Stifelman, M.D.
Assistant Professor of Urology
Director of Minimally Invasive Urology and Laparoscopy
Dr. Stifelman attended the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and completed
his urology training at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center. He then completed
a fellowship in Laparoscopy and Endourology at New York Hospital/Cornell Medical.
He joined the NYU faculty in 2000.
Samir Taneja, M.D.
Associate Professor
Co-director, Urologic Oncology
Director, Advanced Genitourinary Oncology Program
Dr. Taneja completed his medical education at Northwestern University and
his urology training at UCLA. He was then awarded an American Foundation for
Urologic Disease scholarship at NYU that allowed him to begin his research
in gene therapy, androgen receptors and molecular biology of prostate cancer.
He joined the faculty at NYU in 1998.

Salah Al-Askari, M.D.
Professor of Urology
Dr. Al-Askari is a graduate of the Royal College of Medicine in Iraq. He has
been on the faculty since 1961.
Mircea Golimbu, M.D.
Professor of Urology
Dr. Golimbu is a graduate of the Bucharest Institute of Medicine and has been
on the faculty since 1975.
John Provet, M.D.
Clinical Assistant Professor of Urology
Dr. Provet is a graduate of the NYU School of Medicine and has been on the
faculty since 1989.
Pablo Torre, M.D.
Clinical Assistant Professor of Urology
Dr Torre is a graduate of the University of the Philippines School
of Medicine and has been on the NYU teaching faculty since 1991. He completed
his Urology training at NYU and is Chief of Service at the Manhattan VA Hospital.
He has special interests in Urodynamics and Oncology.
Shpetim Telegrafi, M.D.
Assistant Professor (Research) of Urology and Diagnostic Medical Sonography
Dr. Telegrafi is a graduate of Tirana University Faculty of Medicine and trained
in Beaujon and Bichat University Hospitals of Xavier Bichat School of Medicine
in Paris. He joined the NYU faculty in 1996. Dr. Telegrafi is a trained radiologist
with special interests in Doppler evaluation of the abdominal organs.
